Another doll I knew, that's all.

It's what I am.

[ She hasn't exactly been making a secret of it to anyone who actually asked, but. Not many have, it turns out. ]

You didn't think I was human, did you?

A Doll's purpose in life is to follow orders. We were made to be tools. Being called a Doll isn't so far-fetched if that's the case, is it?

[ Haha, too bad Brilith isn't linked with her anymore! A constant vague smile is a good expression for masking your thoughts, it turns out. ]

It could be argued that my thoughts and feelings are simply simulated. They're not real.

Maybe.

But it doesn't change the fact that we were only built to serve a certain purpose. Or that to most people, we're just slightly more personable weapons.

Our lives don't mean much when we're replaceable.

Even if I am more than that to myself, it doesn't matter. T-Dolls were created to protect humanity. We are expected to be able to sacrifice ourselves for their sakes.

Besides, that's exactly it. Our memories can be backed up and copied. Normally, if any of us dies, if a human cares enough to keep us they'll simply use the most recent set of memories available and put that into a new body. Just like it never happened.

If I died, they probably wouldn't expend the resources to bring me back. I've just seen other dolls die, and what happens after. I'm not connected to the same infrastructure most dolls are.

[ if a human cares enough to keep them... ]

Trying to argue that tools should be allowed to make their own choices with me is pointless. I'm well aware that even a doll should have a reason for existing.

It's other people you'd have to convince of it first.

We're tools. We're just machines who look a little more human than average, and make at least a passable attempt at appearing and acting like it, too. At the end of the day that's what people will remember, when it comes down to it.

[ a languid shrug. ]

Expecting people to have sympathy for the tools they made to save themselves trouble is a high demand, I would think. Everyone here met me without having that knowledge already at the back of their mind, so I think that's why it's easier for you to empathize.

[ immediately and sharply: ] A me who doesn't remember her reason for existing has no reason to exist.

There's no point in keeping scrap metal like that alive. If I even resembled myself after transforming, anyway.
